25 - 27 July
Week Two;
Site Visit - Image sequence
Site visit Monday morning - using our devices to take images/have a new perspective on the site.

My device worked in every way I wanted it to!

The glass completely distorted the image of the lane - bringing all focus to the lighting conditions and moving forms.

A common response I received from these videos and images were that they looked like 'what it looks like when you're drunk' or what it looks like when someone is moving through a space quickly. This got me to consider the social context of the site, how it is really used today:

- A transitional laneway
- Nightlife-hub

When people move through this space, it is most often to get to another - leaving little to no consideration of Fort Lane, or at night-time, intoxicated waiting for the clubs/bars around the area - again leaving little to no consideration or recollection of the site.

Image Sequence

I layered images and captures from my device and played with colour and depth to really distort and create some beautiful images. On the right, I layered the images with most prominent light flares, and aim to laser cut these into acrylic, to see how they could work as a projection device.
Meanwhile
Alongside the studio classes, I have been exploring an idea for a public installation that might be considerate of the brief - following a sculpted frozen scene of a courier van crashed in Fort Lane, that has a series of letters suspended in the air that tell stories of people in Fort Lane. These letters could be made of glass - to bring some beautiful materiality into the space and play with lighting conditions etc etc
